Just a short note, that with limited budget too , you can have a line-amplifier with superior sound.
I happened to work together on this project with my close Singaporean friend Chan - stationed here in Jakarta ; he builded his own superior wooden chassis, while I sourced and try build the other ends , all based on very limited available budget. The result is staggeringly superior beyond my expectation !
We did not go for exotics, the only part we indulged were the paper-in-oil coupling capacitors, and mind you - their price are a very fraction of the expensive Auricaps , Audionotes or Jensens audiophile caps .
The schematic used is a simple one stage SRPP with the 12SN7 tubes, which will give Chan the flexibility to play with the 6SN7 ( 6 volts versions) in the future. A headphone connection is added to accept his Sennheiser 600 Ohm input load.
So , why continue dream of the famous Aikido with its 4 tubes ? . A simple KIS (keep It Simple) based line-amp will give superior sound too !!
Technical specs :
Tubes : one Phillips AZ1 solid plate, two RCA 12SN7. SRPP , Plate voltage 258Vdc , auto biased.
Cost ? Rpa 2.500.000,- (equivalent US$250.- for all )
Here is the process in a nutshell :

This is another poison version I tried out on Chan's line-amp - my vintage Valvo AZ1 meshplate rectifier tube

Chan is on a Valvo AZ1 mesh-plate rectifier tube now.
